The Job
Each of our Consultants takes full responsibility for developing and fulfilling business within a specific technical area of IT. This is a bit like running your own business, but of course, with full support. You build market information, collate, screen and register candidates, approach potential clients and build relationships, take specifications for vacancies and eventually co-ordinate the recruitment process between candidate and client. IT Recruitment is a very competitive industry. Building up a technical market takes hard work, persistence, a great deal of common sense and the ability to self-analyse. The job often requires long hours. It is not easy to create a market, and you must be willing to work hard and work smart in order to do this. If you've looked into a career in recruitment you will be well aware the position involves a certain degree of cold calling. At First Point this is still the case but by basing approaches on researched information we make these calls as warm as possible. We don't make a cold call without something very specific to offer the person we are calling. Certainly the job leans towards sales, but there is a huge element of knowledge building behind the sales aspects.
